An Introduction
Posted on Jun 01, 2008 by bruce_mooreGreetings All:
Welcome to the Black Sand Blog, which we launched recently and over the past few weeks have been overhauling, so bear with us through the changes which should result in a new and improved web experience.
Some of you may recall my diving newsletters that I periodically distributed during our two years at Lembeh Resort or my lengthy ramblings I put out under the banner "The Coconut Chronicles" and fired off to all corners of the globe while we resided at The Novotel / Ritzy Hotel in Manado, covering critter sightings, weather reports and social observations (elevator etiquette, my experiences as Sinter Klaus, menacing coconut palms and other divergent topics). With this blog I will endeavor to continue along the same vein, attempting to provide mildly insightful, somewhat educational, passably interesting and hopefully entertaining dispatches from time to time.
For the most part I'll concentrate on the diving: what we're finding, interesting encounters and observations, the visibility and sea conditions. But I will also make an effort to type about other general topics: anything new at the resort, mooring installation programs, flight information, when an entrance fee gets imposed and why, as well as anything that pops into my head while I happen to be sitting at my keys and I find worthy of reportage.
I will also begin to add photos to the words now that I am getting snap-happy with my new rig. Since the drawn out demise of my two battered Nikonos Vs that seemed a permanent appendage underwater, I have belatedly gone digital. But I'm progressing cautiously and am only just beginning to get comfortable with this new technology. For quite some time I was just finding the critters and getting out of the way, but now that I'm gaining momentum behind the lens, my happy snaps will be posted along with my blatherings.
We also welcome any views and reviews from our guests in regards to their personal Lembeh experience with us.
And away we go.
Cheers, Bruce
